Ricardo Arandao
Senior Manager in Government Relations:
IFPI Latin America & Caribbean

Ricardo is Senior Manager of Government Relations for Latin America and the Caribbean at the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry. His mission is to collaborate with authorities and civil society actors to promote the rights of phonogram producers in the countries of the region.
His experience includes private practice and work in public service at the Ministry of Economy, where he served as Director General of International Trade Disciplines. In this position, he was responsible for the international negotiation of disciplines such as intellectual property, trade and labor, and trade and environment.
He was part of the Mexican negotiating team for the Agreement between the United Mexican States, the United States of America, and Canada (USMCA), leading the negotiating tables for the labor and environmental chapters. He also participated in the implementation of the agreement, which included the reforms to the Federal Copyright Law and the Federal Penal Code, published in July 2020.
Ricardo is a professor at the Tecnológico de Monterrey and an associate professor at the Mexican Council on Foreign Affairs (COMEXI). He holds a Bachelor's degree in Political Science and International Relations from the Center for Economic Research and Teaching (CIDE) and a Master's degree in International Law from the Monterrey Institute of Technology.
