Alonso Tamez Vélez

He holds a degree in Marketing from the Universidad Iberoamericana, Mexico City campus (2015). He later earned a Master's degree in Political Communication from the University of Glasgow, Scotland (2019), and a Master's degree in Political Science and Communication from the London School of Economics, England (2021).
He has been a columnist for Diario 24 Horas since 2015 and a correspondent in the United Kingdom and Spain between 2018 and 2020, where he interviewed former heads of state, ambassadors, and legislators.
In 2016, he was Mexico's Youth Representative at the UN Economic and Social Council's #Youth2030 Forum, promoting anti-corruption policies. In 2018, he received the Global Democracy Award from the Academy of Political Arts and Sciences in Washington, D.C., for the INE-Facebook partnership project, adopted by the institute to promote electoral participation of Mexicans through that social network during the 2017-2018 Federal Electoral Process.
In 2019, he served as an advisor to the Communications Director of the Club of Madrid, the world's largest forum for democratically elected former presidents and prime ministers, based in Madrid, Spain.
Additionally, Alonso has served as a legislative advisor in the Chamber of Deputies in two federal legislatures (LXIII and LXV), as a technical liaison to the Citizen Security Commission in the LXV legislature, and from 2013 to 2015, as deputy secretary to the Mayor of Huixquilucan, State of Mexico.
He currently writes about European politics for Diario 24 Horas on Thursdays and interviews various personalities. He is also a monthly columnist in the political supplement of Líderes Mexicanos magazine, a lecturer on political history, particularly Mexico's Democratic Transition, and a recurring visiting professor at the Faculty of Political and Social Sciences at UNAM.
Since October 2024, he has served as Chief of Staff to Senator Rolando Zapata Bello and Technical Secretary of the Senate's Artificial Intelligence Committee.
